Apart from a 'Preliminary Issue' of 750 numbered, signed copies, the first trade edition is itself uncommon, having a print run of 4,925 copies [Edelstein 13a, Ahearn, and the informative article on Wilder by Clark Schumacher and Annotated Checklist by Robin Smiley, Firsts magazine, February 2003.]. The seemingly great number of First Editions for sale online is due to the fact that the book club edition used the same plates, including Harper's statement of 'First Edition'! This copy lacks silver foil stamping on the front panel.
