King: “I came to Alaska in 1898 . . .” Two broadsheets laid in: an order form on card stock for further copies of the book, with a portrait and description as taken from the dj blurb; and an author-signed mss. in pencil on lined yellow paper being a copy of a letter to “The Post Intelligencer” and dated Nov. 14, 1952, in the nature of a book review.
Based on a diary the author found in 1907 while “prospecting on the Lonesome River in the Kayou Hills of the Innoko country”, and supplemented by material sought out thereafter, the result was this tale and Buhro’s pencil sketches.
