Royal Society of Canada, 1906. Octavo. Fine. Taken from the Transactions of the Royal Society of Canada for 1906, pp. [197] -309; bound in royal blue wraps by H. Hart, Ottawa. Bibliographic references are in the language of publication (i.e. French); the text of the article is in English. The lengthy appendices include, amongst other useful material, a list of all of Mesplet's publications. Mesplet (1735? - 1794) moved to Montreal from Philadelphia in 1776 where he set up a printing shop, the first in the country. His publications, then, are not only scarce but most desirable as artifacts of Canadian book and printing history. [cf. McKay, The Macmillan Dictionary of Canadian Biography, 4th Revised Edition, p. 574.
