This beautifully-bound printing of the Latin text by C. Corrall includes the following:Terentis Andria; Eunuchus; Heauton Timoroumenos; Hecyra; Adelphi and Phormio. The comedies of Terence (d. 159 B.C.E.) were “much read in England in the sixteenth century” with some of his lines becoming “proverbial”, such as “fortis fortuna adiuvat (‘fortune favours the brave’)” [The Oxford Companion to Classical Literature, 2005, pp.552-553.] Despite minor rubbing along extremities and age-toning of the preliminaries, this is a handsome example of miniature binding of the day. Mylar protective cover added.
